Whew! I am one relieved American. For MONTHS now, I have thought that the right-wing of our political theater here in America was profoundly hateful, racist, misogynist, prone to violence, intemperate, anti-democracy, and incapable of competent leadership or government.
What a relief to realize that they're just really confused.
Let me elaborate here: earlier this year of course we had a spate of right-wing violence. A right-wing nutjob shot at a US congresswoman, killing 6 people including a 9-year-old girl. The right wing immediately got totally confused about what happened. First, a man who belonged to right-wing groups, read right-wing literature, and enshrined his right-wing beliefs in every aspect of his life was mistaken for a lone nut with no connection to anyone whatsoever. Then, just in case that wasn't going to stick, the right-wing made sure to attack the still-cooling bodies of their victims, and especially focusing in on the murdered 9-year-old girl. She was a future leftist anyway, so the right-wing made sure to tell us that killing her was OK.
Mid-2009, we had a spate of violence-prone protestors (many with guns) show up and shout down the elected government as they went about the business of getting the people's opinion on health-care. But in the wake of the major protests that have taken down several autocratic middle-eastern regimes, and are now swelling in strength and number as US citizens turn out to reject the right-wing program of giving taxpayer funds over to major corporations and sticking us middle-class workers with the bill, right-wingers have decided that protests are scary, and that people should just stay home, shut up, and do what their government tells them to.
Earlier this week, after discovering that a particular bank funded the election of the very-unpopular Scott Walker of Wisconsin, several of the bank's patrons voted with their feet to no longer do business with that bank. And right-wingers immediately started questioning the legality of this. I guess "free markets" are not free when right-wing interests are involved.
But, I figured out that the fucktard who was questioning the legality of this action was just confused. And I realized, that is the problem. These right wingers aren't anti-democratic goose-stepping authoritarian brownshirts who use veiled threats of violence to get their way. They are just DESPERATELY CONFUSED about which country this is.
I can now safely answer, for you right-wingers, that if you're posting from any of the 50 states you are in fact in the USA, and we have the freedom to protest, we have the freedom to criticize, and we even have the freedom to stop doing business with whoever we want to.
I hope you're no longer confused, and you can join with the rest of us Americans in ending the frontal assault on our economy and our freedoms.
